Using my own Domain

  It is not giving me the option to pay the $13/yr, it keeps adding the upgrade. If I delete the upgrade from the cart, it deletes the $13 option as well.

  Hi there,

  I learned recently that each paid/upgrade plan comes with a Custom Domain Name credit that you can use to register a new domain, or to transfer or map a domain you already own.

  Mapping your domain only requires a fee if you already have upgraded to a paid plan *and* have used the free domain credit. If you are looking at this page for instructions:
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/domains/map-existing-domain/
  it states that “You will need an upgraded WordPress.com plan on your site in order to map a domain.”

  I hope this helps you understand why it’s adding the upgrade.
