using new domain for old blog content–and its former domain for NEW blog–gah

  • Unknown's avatar

Can someone help me, please–as Ive received 3 answers from support and they still don’t seem to know what I’m asking–perhaps I’m not clear enough:

I bought a new domain name equestrianeditor.com that i want to replace hitsblog.com with (old domain and site is built for). I wanted ALL the building and content from hitsblog.com to now be housed under equestrianeditor.com

ok. simple enough. redirect. but NO, not exactly. as i want to use hitsblog.com domain for an entirely new blog/website (also wordpress.com tho’).

yet because I mapped to equestrian editor i no longer seem to have access to hitsblog.com domain (to begin building NEW site for, UNRELATED to equestrian editor).

How can i get my hitsblog.com domain back–so I can build new site for, while keeping all its content with equestrianeditor.com?

I DO NOT want visitors being redirected from hitsblog.com to equestrianeditor.com. But DO want all hitsblog’s old content, body, theme–to be under the domain of equestrianeditor.com.
    as it is now.

Support’s last answer is below. Problem was not solved as when one goes to hitsblog.com they are automatically redirected to the equestrian editor domain.

I want those who go to hitsblog.com to see new site/theme i have in mind. and when one goes to equestrianeditor–to see that one (which again, is all hitsblog’s OLD skeleton/content–but minus the hitsblog domain).

Am I being clear? Jesus, Timethief you’re a smart cookie–get what I am asking?

Many thanks to any genius who understands this and responds with a solution.

    Thank you,
    Victoria/kaka Mary Vangelis

    Hi Victoria,

    > Might as well map hitsblog.com to hitsdreams.wordpress.com (though I cam
    > going to change that theme ASAP).

    Ok, this is done: http://hitsblog.com/

    > Annoys me that I can not find or get access to MY DOMAIN I paid for:
    > hitsblog.com –so i can map myself.

You can! For future reference, you can transfer domains to your other blogs from here:
    https://wordpress.com/my-upgrades/

Click the gear icon next to whichever upgrade you’d like to move and you’ll see a link for “transfer to another site”

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi Mary,

So if I’m reading this correctly, currently the domain: hitsblog.com is pointing to the site: hitsdreams.wordpress.com. But, you instead want the domain: equestrianeditor.com to point to hitsdreams.wordpress.com.

Now for your second request, which *.wordpress.com site do you want to point the domain: hitsblog.com to? Do you want to point it to hitshorse.wordpress.com?

Please reply to confirm and I can get it done shortly.

    Hello Grace, and thank you.

Right now equestrianeditor.com is perfect (though a draft/work in progress and not ready to go public)–but as far as domain name and content/body.

I do not want anything changed on that.

What I need is access to and ability to build a new wordpress site under the domain it went by first, hitsblog.com

Right now I have no access to hitsblog.com domain. So I am unable to pick a new theme and begin an entirely new unrelated site (no connection to equestrian editor).

Again I do NOT want any changes to equestrianeditor.com
    Content, body, theme all good.

I also do not want the visitor who goes to hitsblog redirected to equestrianeditor.

I SIMPLY want then to go to hitsblog.com and the new site I will build once I have access to the domain. They should be two different sites.

My big fear is that this (whatever youre about to do) will somehow affect equestrianeditor.com –and I do not want that touched. PLEASE leave that as is–finally right: )

Perhaps we should just map hitsblog to http://ponymafia.wordpress.com/

Then I can just choose a theme and begin anew.

I have too many .worpress domains at present but can’t see a clear way to delete the ones I no longer need.

I also need to buy another domain for a project (a .com) but need to get this straightened out first.

Am I being clear enough? Thank you so much, again.

I just don’t see the point of having a domain (hitsblog.com)–that I can’t use for a new site. That is all I am trying to do. I wanted equestrian editor to be the domain for the site I originally built under the domain hitsblog.com.

that was done. but then i lost access to the domain hitsblog.com

    Hi Mary,

Ok so it looks like you want to keep equestrianeditor.com pointed at hitshorse.wordpress.com. I’ll leave it as is.

As for the domain: hitsblog.com you said this:

Perhaps we should just map hitsblog to http://ponymafia.wordpress.com/

I can do that, or you can create a new WordPress.com site and I can point it to there.

Just confirm the site and I can transfer the domain there.

I just don’t see the point of having a domain (hitsblog.com)–that I can’t use for a new site. That is all I am trying to do.

Yes, this is totally fine and it is a very common request. :) I just need the site you want the domain transferred to.

    Cheers!
