Using new TLDs in email addresses

Trying to follow another blog on wordpress but the sign up widget won’t recognize my email address ((email visible only to moderators and staff)) as valid. I am guessing the problem is that the widget doesn’t recognize the new TLDs.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there,

Can you please post the full email here so I can test it. If you place the email address on its own line without any other characters (i.e. quotes or braces), our system will automatically hide it, but I’ll still be able to see it.

Thanks for the reply. Here it is:

Let me know what you find out.

I should also add. The blog I was trying to subscribe to is here:

    https://bourbonveach.com/

  • Hi there,

I tried adding your email address on that site and it appears to have accepted the subscription. You should receive a confirmation email for the subscription as well.

Possibly you might have made a typo – leaving out the period, for example – causing the email to be rejected. That’s the only thing I can think of, as the email address is working for me.

But let me know if you continue having problems with this.

[I thought I replied to this already but…]

    I figured out the problem!

I was logged into wordpress.com but the email address associated with my account is/was different from the one I wanted to use to subscribe to the blog in question. Once logged out of my wordpress account, I had no problem subscribing using the desired email address.

I think the widget should have either given me a better error message (and maybe allowed me the option of proceeding) OR simply allowed me to use the (valid) email address w/o consulting my wordpress.com account.
