Using own domain for website but not email

    I have set up a website on WordPress.com on the Premium plan using the .wordpress.com domain. I already have a domain registered elsewhere that I want to use for my WordPress site. I want to leave email as it is with the company that registered my domain. I am happy to change the dns settings but worried about affecting the email when I do this. I am not transferring the domain registration. Any advice?
