Using Plugin – website says i can do it, wordpress says no

    I’m trying to install the “Snap Preview Anywhere Plugin” on my blog. Snap has specific instructions on how to make this work in WordPress (see below). However, wordpress tells me there is no way to activate plug ins. Am I missing something?

    INSTRUCTIONS:

    Requirements:

    * WordPress 1.5 or above

    Installing

    1. Signup for SPA and generate the code. In the code you will find a 32-digit parameter that follows key=. This will be needed for configuring the display.
    2. Download Snap Preview AnywhereTM Plugin.
    3. Extract the contents of alt-spa.zip to wp-content/plugins/ folder. You should get a folder called alt-spa.
    4. Activate the Plugin in WP-Admin.
    5. Goto Options > SPA to configure. If you are upgrading from an earlier version, it is recommended that you click Default Options so as to clean up any old options.
    6. You can configure the plugin to automatically add the code to wp_footer() (This needs to be present in your theme). Alternatively add <?php do_action(‘echo_spa’); ?> just before the </body>.

    You would be able to install your plugin if you were hosting your blog (i.e. downloaded the software from wordpress.org and uploaded it to your own or hosting provider’s server). Since you’re hosting your blog at wordpress.com, the installation of plugins is not possible.

  • Incidentally, we’re doing a Snap trial and if it goes well we’ll make it available to all blogs:

    Snap to it!

    That looks highly cool!
