Using the Blog Comments feature on a non-blog page?

    Hi

I have a website (and also a wordpress blog) but I would like to add “comments” to my pages on the website. Is there a way to use wordpress just for adding and managing comments on a non-wordpress website? The wordpress comments seems to be the best I have come across, and the anti-spam stuff is great – so it would be nice to be able to use it by implementing some code and setting up a database or something, rather than starting from scratch, then struggling to manage the spam.

Any thoughts? The website I have uses php (set up so php is parsed in html pages) so the idea does not seem too far fetched. I do not really want to have to totally rebuild the site just to have comments attached to some of my articles. And I do not want to put comments on all pages either.

The site in question is http://www.tranquillizer.co.uk if that helps.

    Thanks

    Jon.

You want to post this on the wordpress.org forums.

WordPress.com probably not. As engtech mentions, you should be asking that over on the other site though as that’s for the software. These forums are for the hosted version of WordPress and it sounds like you would be using the comment code from WordPress instead of from here at wp.com.

Two things i will suggest though:

    – Someone came up with a micro-Akismet that may work for you for spam protection.

    – You may also want to give Haloscan a looksee as well.

I don’t know much about either one but maybe one of those would work for you.

    Hope this helps,

Thanks for the links Dr Mike!

I’ll check them out, and take a look at the .org site too.

    Cheers,

    Jon.
