Using the calendar on Coraline

  • Unknown's avatar

The Coraline theme comes with a calendar showing on the left side of my screen. But how do I put events on it or mark it or do anything with it?
http://www.OakmontPickleballClub.WordPress.com is the blog with the calendar.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi there,

The calendar widget you are using displays a calendar of your blog posts. You can read more about that here: Calendar Widget

If you’d like, you can embed a Google calendar on your site and add events to that: Google Calendar

You could also use the upcoming events widget to display upcoming events in your sidebar: Upcoming Events

Let me know if you have any questions about that!

That was helpful. I uploaded the Google Calendar. Will it update automatically whenever I add appointments?

Also, I need to create a page that would require a password to access. On it will be the names, phone #’s, and email addresses of our members and naturally we do not want the whole world to have access to that page. Can you help with this?

Yes, it will! :) It may take some time for new appointments or events on the Google calendar to appear on your blog, but they will show up automatically.

Also, I need to create a page that would require a password to access.

You can do this by creating a password-protected page. That way, only the people who have the password will be able to see that page. We have instructions for password protecting pages here: Page Visibility

    Great, it works!

I’ve got my password protected page for our club members only, yeah!

Now I need to have a place where members can leave a message that they will attend an evening session of games that members can see when on the members only page. This is especially necessary for the person who comes to unlock the courts. She/he won’t drive out to the club to open the courts if less than 3 people are signed up by noon of that day (FYI Wednesday evenings). I tried the RSVP but only I see the results and only I receive the notifications. Is there some other way to execute this?

Have I said thank you for all your wonderful assistance? Thank you!

I tried the RSVP but only I see the results and only I receive the notifications. Is there some other way to execute this?

There are a couple ways I can think of for you to set this up:

    1. You can use a Contact Form and add the person who comes to unlock the courts as a second recipient for the form. That way, both you and that person will receive an email when someone RSVPs with that form.

Here are the instructions for adding or changing the recipient on a contact form: http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact-form/#notification-preferences

    2. If you don’t mind all members seeing the RSVPs, you could enable comments on the members-only page. Then, ask members to RSVP by leaving a comment on that page. Then, any member (including the person who unlocks the courts, as long as they can view that page) can view the comments on that page to see how many people are attending.

Here are the instructions for enabling comments on a published page: http://en.support.wordpress.com/enable-disable-comments/#enabledisable-comments

Please let me know if you have any other questions! :)
