Using the Continue Reading tag… <!–more–>
-
I’m using the free wordpress.com service to host my blogs, I don’t have a server (yet). But I’m about to pull my hair out because I can’t seem to figure this one thing out. I wrote some long posts, but I don’t want it to display the entire thing. I want to be able to show one paragraph and have a link to read the entire post.
I found out about the <!–more–> tag, but it doesn’t work. I’ve checked the summary option in the settings and I’m coming up with nothing. I even tried different themes, because I read that not all themes supports this.
I installed wordpress locally on my computer to test it out and it works great! However the <!–more–> tag requires you to edit the index.php file of the theme. I can’t do that in the free hosting service I have now.
There has to be a way to do this, please if someone could point me to the right direction.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

In the toolbar of the post look for an icon that has a dotted line. It will be left of the spell check button.
It does work. My blog is proof. http://orgb.wordpress.com/

A search of the Support Docs turned this up: http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/

You guys, thank you so much for this, I found out last night right after I posted this question. I couldn’t believe how simple it was.
Again, thank you very much!
