Using the Gallery and Single Images in a Post

I’ve found posts on this (copied that title) linking to http://gammagirl.wordpress.com/2008/07/27/not-the-official-wordpresscom-gallery-faq/ and I have read and checked the support page, but I must be thick ’cause I can’t get it to work. I think the problem might be that I’m unable to figure out what the ID is for the image I want to exclude…. I’ve tried by excluding the actual file name, and I’ve also tried using the number allocated to the image in the gallery (9), but no luck. Is there a kind soul who might point me in the right direction, I’d really appreciate it… ?
This is the post, where the last image (portrait format) is the one I’m trying to exclude, as I want to include it as a separate image in the post: http://keekhole.wordpress.com/2010/05/09/in-the-garden-on-may-6/
The code for the gallery looks like this, without exclusion:
