Have you looked in the wp support section?

hi 1tess, thanks for your posts, yes I’ve tried the support sections, its not working for me – how do i create a url for an image which is on my desktop?
i’d like to be able to add an image in the same way I can when I insert an image into my post – is that possible?

You uploaded image files from your computer to the media library of your blog. You must also upload the file for your logo to your blog.
Here is a url of one of your pictures:
http://garyparselle.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/photo.jpgOnce the image is uploaded, you can find the url by going to the media library, find the photo and edit: the screen that comes up will show its url.
hope this helps

Oops. Step one should be from your dashboard, choose media library, add new, then upload the image from your computer.

Thank you 1tess, so so much – it has worked!
I didnt realise I needed to add to my media library first. Thanks again, you answered my question perfectly!
