Using the Sketch theme…

  Hi, I’m a beginner coder who is making another website. I’d like to fix a few things in the sketch theme, like the ‘share more’ at the top of the page, that won’t move. I’ve tried inspecting the code, but I can’t find any reason on why this is showing up. I guess my question is, how can I get into the backend of WordPress so I can examine the issue? Thanks!

  Hi, @liliserioportfolio.

  You seem to be using the WordPress free plan, which does not allow CSS editing. If you need deeper customization an upgraded plan such as Premium or Business may suit you better. Both allow Custom CSS and gives you more control of your website. You can see the differences between plans here: https://wordpress.com/pricing/

  If you would rather stay on WordPress.com free plan, you might look for a theme that has built-in features that fit you better. You can have a try with each of them using the Live Preview functionality on the Theme’s page.

  Hi liliserioportfolio,

  @guicmazeredo does make a good point about not being able to edit CSS and access advanced customizations in case you are on a free plan with WordPress.com.

  However, if you’re looking to simply remove the “Share This” buttons from certain areas of your site, you can certainly do that on the free plan.

  Once you are logged into your WordPress.com account, please go to My Sites > Sharing > Sharing Buttons tab on the Sharing page.

  Here you will see options to edit the sharing buttons module. To edit which individual buttons are displayed on your site click on “Edit sharing buttons”.

  To select which sections of your site display the Sharing Buttons module, scroll down to “Options” and you can select/deselect the checkboxes next to the areas of the site you’d like to include/remove the Sharing Buttons module.

  Please remember to save your changes by clicking the “Save Changes” button.
