Using TwentyEleven, width of banner pix

  I am a beginner, using 20-11 as my theme.
  I changed to one sidebar, from none, and now my banner pix(the pictures at top of page) are much wider. I want them even wider, is that possible with 20-11?
  The pix height is what I want, so thats OK.
  I wouldn’t know how to properly change page width in the CSS here, its beyond my expertise.

  I dont see my proper avatar here on the forum.
  Tho I see it on my dashboard in settings fine.

  Gravatar solved, you have to go to another site, lot in, and then upload your picture there. It wont work using your dashboard, or at least it didn’t for me.
