Using webhosting (123-reg) – newbie query
-
Hi
I’m new to this, as you will gather from my question…
I’ve figured out I needed to buy web hosting (to use my own domain name and fancier themes) and paid for a Linux Pro account with 123.reg. I understand to move a blog (just made a few test posts) you export it from here and then upload it at 123-reg. May sounds like a stupid question (but I’m a beginner!( but then what do you do to update your blog, work from wordpress.com or 123.reg? Do you work at wordpress then export/upload every time you make a change? Thanks in advance for your help. Thanks. The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No, once you go self-hosted at 123, you do all your work from there. You will not be connected to wordpress.COM at that point at all. You will log into the new blog at the new blog address such as http://mynewdomain.com/wp-login.php.

Once you shift to using your own web space you go to wordpress.org and download the WP software from there. You then upload the wordpress software using a programme like filezilla (ftp programme) to your web space and follow the installation procedure.
You need to create a database first in your web space. For WP to work correctly. It takes to time to work all this stuff out for yourself first time.
I find the company TSOhost to be better than 123 when it comes to web hosting.
