Using WordPress in China
-
Is anyone else having trouble accessing their site, uploading photos or even asking support for help using their VPN? I live in China where WordPress is blocked and I used to be able to do all of the above but it appears WordPress have changed their settings and I can now to none of the above. Thinking I might have to cancel blog and start up again as its so frustrating!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have flagged this for the staff attention to see if they have any ideas that might help.

@natsbowie – Thanks for the report. Just to be clear, can you access your mapped domain (http://natsbowie.com/) or is that blocked as well on your side?

To clarify a lot of things, I say, “What’s a mapped domain?” I got called out for saying something similar to the question, “What’s wrong?” I said, “There are bad connections all over the place.”
But what can you say when you haven’t enough continuity to understand much of anything. I’m new on it and I find it’s chief characteristic is intermittent. I have been able to do a few things but not for more than ten minutes at a time. I’ve learned I should save every five minutes. The second day I searched for an hour to get back to what I had done the day before. This is my second try at WordPress. I think it was the year before last that I just gave it up. I could really use Word Press, You might say I’m knocking on the door because I need it. I haven’t tried it today. I don’t want to spend an hour doing this when I have work I need to do. try again later if I have time. Look I know whose fault this is. I’ve lived in China for 22 years, and I believe WP is doing their best.

Hi Jeremey, thanks for emailing me with your question. Ironically I cannot even reply to that so I need to come into my VPN to then access this particular forum. My website can be accessed by my followers here in China but with no photos and no other functionality. I cannot access my site either on my VPN or without at the moment. All I can do is add new blogs but I can’t get to my dashboard nor can I upload photos. I hope this makes sense.

Hi @natsbowie – Thanks for the clarification. Unfortunately, I’m not aware of any changes at WordPress.com that would cause changes in how the site is displayed through your VPN. I’ll certainly keep an eye out though.
In the meantime, the best suggestion would be to try to setup another VPN service. I’m sorry I couldn’t be more help. We have some recommended ones here:
