Using WordPress instead of iWeb

For many years, I have had my personal domain name registered in UK, & hosting in Malaysia. I have – until last weekend – used iWeb to create my web. Have upgraded Mac OS & now iWeb is not supported (I knew it was on the way out).

What I’d like to be able to do is use WordPress in future to add to & edit my web, while still accessing what I already have. Am totally confused on how to go about sorting it out. Have read most of the domain name/transfer/mapping articles & it went over my head.

Any advice would be welcomed. Thank you.

    Hey there!

We look forward to having you here on WordPress.com. With one of our plans, you can get started with your own domain name and a site that you can get started up with. After you’ve started with a plan, you’ll see options to transfer in your domain (which I often recommend, as it allows you to manage everything in one spot, as opposed to having your domain registered elsewhere). Mapping a domain is an option a well, basically meaning that you can use it here on WordPress.com, but you’ll still have it registered (and paid for) elsewhere.

Once you’ve gotten started on a plan, we can outline some ideas to get your site up and running. While we don’t have a specific iWeb importer that you can use, we can look into best steps to help you make this as seamless a transition as possible.
