Using wordpress.com for a small business

Is it possible to use WordPress.com for business use?
I am in the middle of setting up a website and have been told it is possible!
But does anybody else have website for business on here?The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

As I understand it, using wordpress.com for purely commercial purposes is not allowed. Note that business blogs are allowed but using wordpress.com to solicit or advertise your paid services is not allowed. If you plan to establish a website for your business, wordpress.com is most likely not the best option. If you want to simply blog about (what is going on in) your business that is fine.

That’s not entirely correct; I know because staff looked at, and approved, my business blog that has a page listing all my classes and prices and so on. As long as the blog is mostly informative and not promotional, it’s okay to have that stuff on your site.
You cannot have a WP.com blog to resell stuff, be part of an MLM, or do affiliate marketing, John Chow-style. If what you’re looking at needs a shopping cart, for instance, you’re better off with an independent WordPress install from WordPress.org.

The short version: WordPress.com is for blogs. If your blog is an actual blog written by an actual person with actual content that actual people actually want to read, it’s probably fine.

As Raincoaster says: MLM and affiliate marketing are not permitted, nor is spam, creating a bunch of blogs, using WordPress.com just to boost your site’s search engine rankings, etc.

WordPress.com blogs significantly outnumber .org. But that doesn’t necessarily mean much – creating a new wp.com blog takes only a few seconds and costs nothing.
