Using WP to create slideshows?

    Not sure if WP is the right tool for this, but we have a client who’s asked what alternatives there are to standard Powerpoint or Keynote presentations. They have a portfolio of entertainment venues, and need to be able to present a variety of pitches to high-end brands, at short notice. Historically we’ve always supplied Photoshop mockups of “your brand here”, and/or videos, for them to insert into Ppt decks; occasionally we go in and format the deck so it’s consistent and looks like it’s been designed properly, but the problem with Ppt is that it only takes a few people to ruin this with a slide inserted from a different deck, inconsistent fonts, etc. This is a limitation they’ve very aware of, so we’ve been tasked with finding a better way for them to present something that looks consistent and high-end but that they can change with minimal technical knowledge.

    There are obviously a fair few HTML-based presentation services out there (Prezi, Strut.io, SlideCaptain, plus a bunch of .js frameworks) but none of them seem to be quite fully-featured enough (many of them don’t even have an Undo!), and so as a wildcard I wondered if WP could be made to do it.

    We would set up a general template, stylesheet etc, and then (probably) using an inline editor plugin like Barley let the client edit the text, charts, images etc. as they needed to. The main problem, though, is that we would then need to be able to create a static HTML page out of all of this that could be published on a unique link, so each presentation is standalone and there isn’t a risk of, say, Vodafone stumbling on EE’s deck. Which I realise isn’t something that WP was created to do.

    Is there a way to do this using WordPress, or maybe a similar CMS?

    That is probably the closest thing here other than Slide Share which has limited transitions when I used it a year or two back
