using wp to write a book

    I would like a detailed instruction set on how to write a book using wordpress – a lot more than the small advisory on chapters. I would most like the an example of an actual book so I can see the ‘tricks’. Thanks!

    Sorry but that’s a no go. We Volunteers provide technical assistance to free hosted WordPress.com bloggers. You don’t even appear to have a blog as none is linked to your username and you did not post a URL. What follows is for those with free hosted WordPress.com blogs only.

    Blogs are essentially a reverse chronological order publishing tool wherein the most recent published post will display on top. You cannot change this order on a free hosted WordPress.com blog. It’s designed to serve your visitors as they come to read the most recent posts and will not be inclined to trawl through hundreds of posts to locate it.

    See here for the option of creating a book-like structure > http://en.support.wordpress.com/write-a-book/ Perhaps that will work for you.

    Or you could use a single sticky post as an index page > http://en.support.wordpress.com/posts/post-visibility/#sticky-posts

    Or you can falsify every date-stamp before publishing.

    Thank you, Timethief, for your suggestions. I know those leads, and I am afraid I still have many questions…

    But, I am a bit puzzled by your strong … hmm … rebuke? For I am a member, I do have a WP hosted URL (http://wemoby.com) but it is not yet public, as I am working on it – it is a chicken and an egg thing: I want to use WP to write a freely-accessible web-book, but I as yet don’t know how to do all that type of organization!

    I think you are saying that I must have a blog and nothing else to post questions here. And, furthermore, the blog must be up and running. That would seem surprising to me, for the postings to be so restrictive. Would you and/or a monitor verify this, please?

    Meanwhile, if it is OK to post, I would refine my question:
