Using Yahoo business email with a WordPress hosted site
-
Hello,
I set up my website hosted on wordpress.com (previously on Yahoo small business), but I want to keep my business email through Yahoo. I added the Yahoo MX codes to my DSN settings in my WordPress dashboard, but the Yahoo mail still isn’t working properly (it seems to allow sending, but not recieving). Any ideas what I’m setting I’m missing? Thanks!

Howdy,
I’m sorry for the inconvenience.
What’s your SMTP server for sending email?
Can you check with Yahoo! to see if you require additional records, aside from the two MX records you already have for your DNS settings?
According to this Yahoo! Small Business Help page “What are the effects of changing my name servers?“, it states:
Yahoo!’s name servers must be listed as the primary and secondary name servers in order for Yahoo! to host your domain services properly.
If that’s the case, and you require Yahoo! for email, you’ll need to switch your name servers back to Yahoo!, then you would only be able to map a subdomain (example.academeadvantage.com) rather than your domain (academeadvantage.com).
However, if you’re interested, you can setup Google Apps for email, which would allow you to keep your domain mapped as is.

The mail started working properly (initially we had entered outdated Yahoo! mail servers), but now the site won’t render. Is this due to the issue with the name servers? The name servers we set (at dynadot where the domain was purchased) are both wordpress. Any ideas? Thanks for the help!

Please disregard, it looks like the website and mail are both working properly now. Thank you!
