Using your own owned subdomain (not primary domain) with wordpress

I’m hoping to get some guidance on connecting a subdomain to WordPress.com for my blog. I figured the bullet approach would be best ;)

    The situation:

    • I own the domain mydomain.com through Gandi DNS. This domain has existing subdomains in use on my private VPS server that I don’t want to affect or disrupt.
    • I would like to create a new subdomain specifically for my WordPress blog, like blog.mydomain.com.
    • I understand I can’t just use a CNAME record to point blog.mydomain.com to the WordPress FQDN, since the SSL certificate won’t match.

    My questions:

    • What is the best way to connect blog.mydomain.com to a WordPress.com site without impacting my other subdomains?
    • Do I need a specific paid WordPress plan to make this work?
    • Are there any technical steps or settings you recommend for this subdomain setup?

I greatly appreciate any guidance you can provide! This subdomain approach would really help me keep my blog separate while still using my own domain.

    Thanks!
