I have been here for nearly 7 years and I agree with you. It has become increasingly more difficult for beginner bloggers to use WordPress software. As the software has become more sophisticated and complex to appease those who wish to use it as a CMS, developers have added so many features and functions to make the software useful for so many purposes that the learning curve has become a very steep one.

  • I’m sorry you’re finding it difficult to use WordPress. Timethief has given you some useful links above. If you let us know anything specific you need help with I’d be glad to lend a hand.

I have to say I disagree with TimeThief to some extent. I have given several people basic instructions on using WordPress.com and as long as they just want basic functionality with a standard theme they have not had problems.

Once you go beyond that then I agree – there are much more options than there used to be and it is complex. A lot of this is actually useful for advanced users though.

Also now there are multiple ways of doing the same thing – particularly writing a post, that can be done from the “new post” in the dashboard with a full editor, the wired http://wordpress.com/#!/post/ post from main page, and the post in the top menu bar which enters a split-screen mode. To me this is an unnecessary complication
