    Hi, I am thinking of moving away from Wix, I have a registered Domain name with them and an email account. I would like to build my new website offline and when the site is ready to launch switch. I need plugins for a holiday rental so customers can see what is available complete a booking form, make a deposit and pay the balance etc. There are some limitations here with Wix.

    I am not familiar with building a website but willing to learn. We have good quality photos, 360-degree walkthroughs, and narrative.

    So the key question

    1. Can I build offline and switch easily with WIX and retain my domain and email when ready to go live
    2. Are there good and plugins to do the basic booking and taking payments. I would also like to customize this so it can be menu priced
    3. SEO for beginners
    4 Can host 360 images or link to a host website
    5 Good clean templates for beginners

    If you want to build your site offline, you’ll want the open source version of WordPress made over on WordPress.org. However, running that software locally to develop a website is highly technical, and not something I’d recommend for anyone new to WordPress.

    If you instead create your new site with us on WordPress.com, you can build it online at a free example.wordpress.com address we provide. Then only switch the domain over to us once you’re ready to take the Wix site offline.

    On WordPress.com we recommend and fully support the WooCommerce ecommerce plugin. That plugin has a bookings add-on you can buy from WooCommerce.com:

    3. SEO for beginners

    All WordPress.com sites are configured for SEO out of the box, so you don’t need to worry about that to start with.

    If you want you can later use a plugin like Yoast SEO to have more control over your SEO, but I wouldn’t start with that.

    4 Can host 360 images or link to a host website

    WordPress.com natively supports 360 images:

    5 Good clean templates for beginners

    Theme choice is something very personal, and “clean” is a subjective description, so I’m not able to make recommendations in that regard.

    To choose a theme, go to My Site ->Design ->Themes and search for the features you want using the filters we provide there.
