Valid credit cards are insta-refused

Trying to add a valid credit card to my account (I’ve tried two), and they are instantly declined with “There was a problem with your credit card. Please check your information and try again” much too quickly for any network activity. It’s got to be a JavaScript rejection. Thoughts? I tried both Safari and Chrome, with two different totally unrelated cards that are of course fine.

To expand just a little, I’m seeing exactly what this fellow saw a couple weeks ago, right down to the fact that my real purpose in adding a credit card is to enable woo commerce shipping. So probably the same issue. He never posted his resolution however:

Update: Two things, first it’s annoying you cannot simply a thread if you decide you don’t need it – especially if it has no replies. Second: The problem, no thanks to the WordPress.com error message, was that the email address it associated with that particular WordPress account wasn’t confirmed yet. I confirmed the email, and it immediately resolved the issue.
