Valid email address

On a number of occasions, I have attempted to subscribe to WordPress sites only to receive a notification that the action had failed and to use a valid email address. I use a @me.com email address in all my communications and don’t have problems elsewhere so why can’t I use it to subscribe to a WordPress site?
I don’t have a site with WordPress.com yet

That’s is most odd behaviour with that site.
You would need to ultimately reach out to who manages that site as to why that’s happening.

Sorry but that really doesn’t help as it isn’t the only site this has happened with. I can’t list them as I don’t keep a record. As this doesn’t seem to be unique to one site I see no reason to contact (I don’t “reach out) the owners of the site in question.
It would seem I won’t be able to resolve this issue which is a shame as I had considered WordPress.com as a possible alternative to my current site host.

This sounds like it may be a browser related issue. Have you tried logging in using a different browser or clearing your browser’s cache?
I’ve seen users have this issue before and clearing the cache or using a different browser seems to solve it.

Thanks for taking the time to provide some input and it is interesting that others have had similar problems. I have taken your advice and tried using Chrome and didn’t have a problem so it is obviously a Safari issue.

I would definitely try and clear the cache of Safari’s browser to see if that rectifies the issue, especially Safari is your browser preference:
