  I just got this email and i was wondering how legit it was and if so what exactly this means and what caused this issue?

  In the past WordPressdotcom has reset a password when they find that you’ve used the same password/email combination elsewhere. Here’s an earlier forum reply from Staff on this issue: https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/email-scam?replies=20#post-3008714

  If you have already reset your password, you might want to consider also setting up 2-step authentication as an extra layer of security to make sure that no one else has access to your account without authorization.
