Vanishing Tags Over and Over Again
-
Why is it every time I ad paragraph tags under the code tab it deletes them upon saving? Making something as simple as new paragraphs is ridiculously difficult when it won’t save them. Again and again it has simply deleted the tags when I go back and look at the code. WordPress is so buggy it makes me want to blog elsewhere when I can’t get the simplest things done. ANyone have any ideas to keep my tags from magically vanishing?

If you are using Safari the TinyMCE editor that wordpress uses for writing pages and posts is not fully compatible with Safari and you will find problems in other areas as well.
I would suggest downloading the Firefox or Camino or Flock browsers as they are the most compatible with wordpress.
Firefox: http://en.www.mozilla.com/en/
Camino: http://caminobrowser.org/
Flock: http://www.flock.com/Alternately, you can go to “my profile” in the upper right of your dashboard and uncheck “use visual rich text editor,” click “update profile and then you will be doing all your writing in code view. Some, including myself, find this a little confusing since in addition to the text of your post, you will see all the html code for your formatting.
My Suggestion:
Another alternative is to use an offline blog editor. Timethief has rounded up all the most popular editors and listed them on her resources blog at: http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2007/10/26/offline-blog-editors-reviews/

WordPress and/or the TinyMCE editor seems to be having a random problem over the past couple months with paragraph breaks being stripped out of posts. Again, it is random and there doesn’t seem to be any way to tell who is going to experience the problem.
IE6 is also a problem and doesn’t always play nice with TinyMCE. IE7 is far more compatible.
If you are already using FF (windows or mac), or perhaps IE7 and having this issue, try using the self-closing break tag:
<br />another alternate is to use<p> </p>Again, my suggestion: use an offline blog editor and save yourself the grief.
