Variability in images which can be seen in own window.
-
Why is it possible to hover over only some of my blog images and have them appear on their own page? As far as I can tell I’m uploading all the images the same way (and indeed the same way I always have), I have not changed any settings, yet recently only a minority of images have the hyperlink? I’d really appreciate some help with this.
Cheers

Hello, I see what you mean and I tested it on my site too. As a default, when adding an image to a post or page when using the new editor, it’s not going to link to the media file.
You will have to link it manually by clicking on the image in the editor when you have already added it, and then click the Insert/edit link button in the toolbar (screenshot). When you click this, the URL of the image is already filled in the URL field (screenshot). All you have to do is just click Add Link and then Publish/Update.

This is a feature that is also bothering me so I stick to the old editor for adding and editing posts and pages.

Thank you so much. I thought I was going crazy.
I realise that the few recently posts where the image link is automatically embedded were written on my iPad. Guess the editor is slightly different.
Thanks again.
Cheers

You’re welcome! At first, I thought I was too and I was already banging my head. You can imagine my relief when I figured it out. Thus switching to the old editor when dealing with posts and pages.

No you don’t. The old editor is the one located in your WP Admin Dashboard. http://zimmerbitch.wordpress.com/wp-admin
When you’re at the New Dashboard, scroll down at the very bottom of the left sidebar and you’ll see WP Admin (screenshot here). Clicking it will take you to the same page when you click the link I gave above.

So when you add/edit new posts and pages, by going to Posts and Pages on the left sidebar of your WP Admin Dashboard, this will bring up the old/classic editor as they call it.
