variable product

    I have a problem with combining three products. those three products are different flavors of the same product. I have tried the variable product feature however when i go to the attributes and i click on one of the flavors lets say coffee. i want to connect the flavor attribute to the the existing product that i have in the system which is a product with coffee flavor. in the attributes edit i tried to entire the SKU of the product with coffee flavor instead of making new SKU for an existing product i got rejected by the system and it says you have entered a duplicated SKU. What i am trying to get to is i want to combine the three products without making any new SKU. Because these products i am dropshipping them from a another website and any changes happens to these products like quantity and price I do not want to do them manually because mistakes will happen. hopefully what i wrote explained my problem if not please let me know so i could explain more
