Variable sidebar display for small (mobile screens)
-
For small screens (smaller than 1008px in my case, predominantly mobile screens and tablets) is it possible to hide some sidebar items (widgets) with a view to improve site readability? For example, the instagram widget is probably not necessary on small screens which would have to scroll past it. If this is not possible perhaps as a plan-b, removing the left sidebar entirely on small screens.
I am using the twenty-fourteen theme which is mobile-responsive.Thank you for your help.

You can learn more about using media queries that target certain screen sizes here:

http://webdesignerwall.com/tutorials/responsive-design-with-css3-media-queriesYou can try adding display: none; to the sidebar widget elements you don’t want displayed at narrower screen sizes. Keep in mind that the theme already drops the entire left sidebar below the main content area at smaller screen sizes, where the Instagram widget looks pretty good. :-)
Just let me know if you need further help.

Thank you kathrynwp, your help is much appreciated and those links are very helpful. And I agree, the Instagram widget does look pretty good underneath :).
