WordPress.com aren’t based in the UK but staff can provide a UK/EU VAT invoice/receipt if you provide them with a valid VAT number. (Please don’t post the number here though). With an upgraded plan you have access to live chat https://en.support.wordpress.com/live-chat/ but in case that is not working for you I have added the modlook to ask if a member of staff could contact you.

purersolutions – In case you aren’t able to access live chat support via wordpress.com/help/contact/ I have sent an email your way.

Please respond to that email to supply us with the VAT number (do not reply here). You can also share that information over live chat.

Thanks for the response – I have since done a live chat and been sent a VAT invoice though it is zero rated VAT which doesn’t help me too much.

    I’m assuming this is correct?

    Thanks
    Simon

WordPress.com is outside the UK/EU and sales tax varies from state to state. I don’t believe there is any requirement for a VAT-registered business in the UK to account for VAT on imports into the UK from the USA in the same way as from other EU states. However, to be transparent with their accounts some businesses in the UK just add 20% to invoices they receive for digital-only services from the states and then reclaim that 20% on their next VAT return. If you have received a zero-rated Invoice then there is no need to do that.

  • It should be correct as generated, but we’ll double check for you and follow up via email.
