Verification Codes for 2 Step Authentication Not Working When Trying To Disable
-
Hi. No offense, but I don’t like this feature because if anyone were to hijack my blog, they’d probably do a better job writing than I could anyway, so more power to them. Here’s my beef: I DID NOT print out my list of verification codes because I’m a rebel, so whenever I log into my computer, I have to have a verification code sent to my phone and log in using that code. I can’t log in on my mobile phone at all and I’m slow and still can’t figure that mess out, so I just want to disable the whole shebang, but like I mentioned, I didn’t save the codes, so when I try to disable the 2 step and am asked for a code to disable, the one I had sent to me via text is not being accepted. Please help. Thank you. And I’m sorry I broke the rules, but that’s what they’re here for.

Im in the same boat – not impressed with the feature and find it uneccesary but I blindly followed the advice from WordPress and enabled it. My problems are exactly the same as polishsausage.
Happy New Year by the way……..

Well, misery loves company, right? Same deal here, only I printed the the codes to a pdf file, but later found it to be two pages of absolutely nothing. Now I can’t even get the verification codes sent via SMS.

Ok. Just after I posted this I went back into my security settings – this time in Internet Explorer rather than Chrome which I normally use – and clicked disable. Then I clicked generate codes – boom – lo and behold it generated codes in a pop-up window. It generates them for printing but I just moved the print window to one side and took a snapshot on my phone. They disapear when you shut the print dialogue window.
Put the first code on the list into the box for disabling and again – boom – all done. No more 2-step anything. Phew !!
Now assuming you can still log in you should be ok – use IE or make sure all pop up blockers are disabled. It worked for me
good luck and happy new year !!
(hope all that made some sense……)

Oh snap! I haven’t tried using a different browser, but I had a suspicion that might be what the deal is. I’ll try using something other than Chrome and see if that works. If so, you are my new favorite.

HOORAY. Opened different browser and got the codes. 2 Step be gone! Thank you so much for that suggestion. Happy new year!
