Verify by SMS does not work

  I would like to setup two step authentication as described here
  https://en.support.wordpress.com/security/two-step-authentication/
  However, if I enter my valid phone number and select ‘Verify by SMS’, I do not receive any text message on my phone, even not after several minutes.
  What can I do or who can I contact to solve the problem?

  No, I have never received any SMS code. It is the first time I would like to setup this service.
