Verifying the site with google (WordPress 5.8.3.)
-
Hi!
I need help with above mentioned issue.
I am using the latest wordpress version (5.8.3.) and I can not find the right instructions how to verify my site with google.
All instructions that I have googled are showing how to’s for some older wordpress versions since I do not have the same options to which they are reffering. For example, wordpress.com says to go to My Site(s) → Tools → Marketing → Traffic or
to My Site(s) → Upgrades → Domains and I simply do not have those pages available to me and I hope that is only the issue with my particular WP version.Anyway, please advise.
Thank you!

Hi there,
We can’t help directly because we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed hosting. As a result we don’t have the ability to take a closer look at your site.
Instead your host (Dreamhost) uses the open-source variant of the WordPress platform which functions differently than what we offer here on WordPress.com. I noticed you mention the wordpress.com documentation, but that only applies to sites we host directly and is not the same for sites on Dreamhost
The good news though is that this feature is available with the Jetpack plugin, which you appear to have installed on your site. We’re not the primary point of contact for Jetpack support but I see that you will want to be sure to turn on the Site Verification module, and then you can follow the steps here to verify with Google: https://jetpack.com/support/site-verification-tools/
If you’re still having trouble with finding that, please reach out to the Jetpack team as they are in the best position to help troubleshoot why you are not seeing that option:
