Verifying web property using google search console
-
Hi wordpress team. I have tried verifying my web property using this set of instructions. (https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/).
However, it seems like the search console was changed such that users can no longer access the old version (https://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/) which was what the link referred to.
Is there a work around?
Under the new search console, the verification details given to me are in the following format.
“Copy the TXT record below into the DNS configuration for wordpress.com
google-site-verification=xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx”
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there,
Where in that doc are you seeing the
/webmasters/tools/link? I see the correct link tosearch.google.com/search-console/in the Google Search console section at https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/#google-search-console.That said, it does appear they’ve changed their interface. I’ll let the team responsible for the support pages know to update that.
In search console, click on Add Property. Then type the full address for your WordPress.com site, including
https://, in the URL Prefix box, NOT the Domain box. If you do that, you’ll see the HTML tag option mentioned in our support page, and from there the verification steps should be essentially the same. You can find Google’s instructions here:
