Verifying with Google

I have the free domain. I wanted to verify my site with Google, but can’t see how to either upload their html file (‘recommended’) or add a meta tag to my home page (‘alternate’).

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi there, please follow this guide and let us know if you have any further questions or issues and we’d be happy to help: https://en.support.wordpress.com/webmaster-tools/#google-search-console

No, the google-search-console guide is no help because I do not have any access to the <head> section of my front page (to insert a meta tag there) nor to a place to upload Google’s html file to (I can’t directly add it as a new page, for instance). If this is because my account is the free one, why is that not stated somewhere?

Hi there, Go to WordPress dashboard > Click on settings > Traffic , Scroll down and there you can see different search engine like google, Bing …
Paste the Meta tag that you have in front of Google and Click on save.

    Also under Site Verification Services
Click on google search console and login and that verifies the account automatically via meta tag.
    Hope this instructions helps.

    Thank you.

I’ve recently done this verification. Copy the meta tag from google search console’s verify ownership page. You can see the meta name under the other verification methods> html tag. In your wordpress dashboard, look for Tools> Available Tools. Search for the Website Verification Services below that page and add the meta tag in Google Webmaster Tools.
