(Verity theme) Header does not change size, but it should

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hello all,

I am trying to change the size of the header, to no avail.
When I tried out the theme, I was at one point able to customize the height of the header image as well. But it only worked the first time, now every time I log in and try to customize the theme it stays in default size, no matter how much I resize or crop or anything at all!

I was hoping that after I bought this theme, this problem would go away. But now I paid 69 euros and the header size still won’t change.
I am 100% positive it should, because I managed to do so before once while in tryout and even the default preview of the site clearly shows a large header image.

    I use the Verity theme.

Can someone please help me out?

PS: I have NO experience in coding, so if coding is the only solution, you need to explain to me as if I’m a 5 year old.

    Hello!

The theme will display the header image at the shorter height you’re now when no Header Media Text has been added. If you add some Header Media Text then you’ll see the image’s height increase again.

Navigate to the Theme Options panel in the WordPress.com Customizer, to find the option of adding Header Media Text to your site’s header.

Can you give that a go and let me know if you have further questions?

    Hello siobhyb,

Adding Header Media Text seems to do the trick, for now that will do. Thank you!

If I may though – I don’t want to rant, just my honest opinion – I have to say that it is a bit inconvenient that apparently this text is required in order to fix the header size, because I would have never made that connection myself and it doesn’t specify anywhere. I just don’t think it makes sense. Does the staff at WordPress take into account requests from users? If so, is there any place I can report things such as this issue?

    Again, thank you very much!

    Hi @tatoschrijft,

I really appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback. It makes sense to me that you’d want the header image to appear at its full height, regardless of whether or not you added text to that area.

Although the Verity theme is unlikely to change (as changes to the header’s default height would impact everyone currently using that theme), we do consider feedback from the forums when providing feedback to our development teams.

As Verity is a third-party Premium theme, you can also provide feedback directly to the theme’s author via their dedicated forum here:

    https://premium-themes.forums.wordpress.com/forum/verity

Thanks again for your clear and honest feedback!
