Although I can get my latest post on the summary of posts, why does the blog always open with the same post, which is over 2 yeaars old

Howdy!
It looks like you have that older post set to be “sticky” so that it always appears at the top of your post lists.
We have instructions on stick post here:
https://wordpress.com/support/post-and-page-visibility/#sticky-posts-posts-only
Remove the “sticky” designation for that post and the default will return to being your most recent blog posts.
