Vertical menu of product categories
-
Hello,
I’m trying to set up an eCommerce platform using the storefront theme on woocommerce and I want to set up a menu of product categories as in these two platforms:
1. https://www.badabum.ro/
2. https://www.emag.ro/Can anyone recommend me a module or where can I find relevant information in this regard, please?
Thank you very much!

Hi @brinsteve, what is the URL of the site you are setting up? I am guessing it is not firsttopptc.wordpress.com as the theme on that site is Andreas04, an old WordPress.com theme. If you are using Storefront, you are either on the Business plan (in which case you can get Live Chat support) or your site is using the software available at WordPress.org, hosted elsewhere.
WordPress.com and WordPress.org are quite different – the dotcom version offers hosting plans, whereas the dotorg version refers to the WordPress software that can be installed on any self hosted site. Here’s a link explaining the difference: https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/
If it’s hosted on WordPress.org, the best place to ask your question on how to create a vertical menu would be the either the Storefront support forum itself at https://wordpress.org/support/theme/storefront or the WordPress.org forums at https://wordpress.org/support/forums/ .
Feel free to post your site URL and I can help point you in the right direction :)

Hi @karenlattfield, first of all let me thank you for support.
the url is http://www.cumparsmart.xyz
That part with “The blog I need help with is” I think that came automatically.

Hi there,
Yes, your site is hosted elsewhere (by Hostinger International), rather than here at WordPress.com, so the WordPress.org forums are where you would need to ask your questions.
As a quick suggestion though as I am viewing your site, you could edit your CSS (by going to Appearance -> Customize -> Additional CSS) and then adding the following:
@media (min-width: 768px) { .main-navigation ul li { display: block; } }This would just make your horizontal main menu vertical. For the banner image to be next to the menu you’d probably have to make changes to the theme template files. The menus themselves can also be customized from the Customizer – you can add sub-menu items and sub-sub-menu items to reflect product categories. The folks in the .org forums should be able to provide further suggestions though. In order to participate in the .org forums you will need to register a free account if you haven’t already, by going to https://login.wordpress.org/register. Hope this helps!

Thank you again,
Your code really works. It turned the menu from horizontal to vertical just in seconds. But I just realized that I did not explain very well what I want. Please check again the previous examples (https://www.emag.ro/ – https://www.badabum.ro/) and check how the menu there has the following features:
1. It keep the pages horizontally,
2. while vertically has the product categories
3. When it’s acting does not affect content from the site. They open above the images or headers in the site. This is what I will like to achieve.
Although I posted on wordpress.org, I would still prefer your help if it is still possible.
Thank you.

I see. That certainly is a lot more complex than shifting the entire menu to be vertical. You would most likely need to modify theme files (in a child theme or custom theme). Here on WordPress.com it isn’t possible to access or change theme template files, and support related to that is well beyond the scope of support in this forum I’m afraid. The Storefront support forum and the WordPress.org forums are your best bet for this kind of question. Failing that, you could always try a developer forum such as WordPress Stack Exchange. I hope this helps.
