Vertically align small image inserted into middle of a sentence

  Hello,
  Is there a way to vertically align a small image inserted into the middle of a sentence? What I want to do is align the middle of this small image with the middle of the text.

  For example: This is a short sentence with a small [IMAGE] in it

  Note: I am not talking about Left, Right, and Center alignment.
