Very old account recovery
-
How do you recover an account with an email address you don’t have access to?
The help docs say you can recover by providing proof — e.g., the activation URL you got when creating your account. However, I did not receive such a URL, I am guessing because I created my account 10 years ago.
The first emails I got were a general “Welcome to WordPress.com” email without an activation URL, and a “New WordPress.com User: <my username>” email that said “Your new WordPress.com username has been successfully set up” and also lacked an activation URL.Is my only recourse setting the account to private? Or is there a recovery option for very old accounts?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Note that to set a site to private you do need to have access to the account associated with it. If you still have the password then log in with that and the username brianbartoldson
