While plugins are common on self hosted WordPress sites, due to security concerns, they are not available on WordPress.com. There is more info regarding WordPress.com and plugins here:
However, we do have several built-in features that were inspired by many popular plugins. You might find what you want by searching for it at http://en.support.wordpress.com/
What feature are you looking to add with a plugin?
Also, for more information on the differences between WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress sites, please see:

I need to embed HTML code from CNN videos, etc. Other website builders, no problem, I don’t think adding legit source code is to much to ask. Thanks for your help.

It really depends on what the exact code is. Some embeds will not work because we do not allow certain tags on WordPress.com for security reasons, including JavaScript, Flash, iframe, form, and input tags. These restrictions are in place to prevent any disruptions in service due to potentially malicious code.
You can read more about this here:

This is benign, simple HTML code from cnn and Forbes. Ultimately, I can't even find where you can embed code. I feel like SquareSpace and Breezi offer these simple service for half the cost. I regret signing up for WordPress. I thought I was being a better service with the $30 package, they don't tell you need .org to get simple plugins. No wonder Digital Trends did not even mention WordPress in best paid sitebuilders.

I thought the WordPress portion was to be gone, futher what is this “dot” business, I do backlink rescue for a living and have never seen a “dot” in a domain. I have seen hundreds of thousands of websites, so this is pretty sketchy.

To replace the ______.wordpress.com URL with a custom domain follow these instructions:
To add a domain, simply log into your WordPress.com site’s dashboard, click on Store–>Domains, click “register a new domain name”, enter the domain you wish to register in the box and click the “go” button. Then just follow the instructions that appear to register your domain.
