very very basic

I’m totally new to this so I hope this isnt too basic. its so basic i cant even find anything about it in the faq.
Installation: Famous 5-minute install
1. Unzip the package in an empty directory.
2. Open up wp-config-sample.php with a text editor like WordPad or similar and fill in your database connection details.
3. Save the file as wp-config.php
4. Upload everything.
5. Open /wp-admin/install.php in your browser. This should setup the tables needed for your blog. If there is an error, double check your wp-config.php file, and try again. If it fails again, please go to the support forums with as much data as you can gather.
6. Note the password given to you.
7. The install script should then send you to the login page. Sign in with the username admin and the password generated during the installation. You can then click on ‘Profile’ to change the password.– What are your “database connection details”?
– what is meant by “upload everything” in step 4? I already have one of these ready made blogs here but I may want to put a self created one up. I assume “upload everything” means upload the blog platform to your server here at wordpress.com, but I have no idea how to do that.

i think you have a self-hosted blog, in which case you have to go to http://wordpress.org/support to place your query. this is the forum for bloggers hosted by wp.com. please correct me if i’m mistaken.

@sulz-the site linked to the username, while garbled, is a wordpress COM site
But will1987, I think you’ve confused wordpress.COM and wordpress.ORG. You don’t need to download and install anything anywhere when your blog is hosted on WordPress.COM. I suggest for beginners to read the two sticky notes a the top of the support forum, which explains the difference between the two, and then move on to read this FAQ

well I dont have a self posted blog yet, but I guess I’m thinking of uploading one to a server. by the way can you have advertising on your page here and conduct business? If so I may not need to have any other web host. also, can you have more than one blog on wordpress.com?
thanks for replies,

http://faq.wordpress.com/2005/12/08/adsense/ and http://wordpress.com/types-of-blogs/ explains more.
Yes, you can run more than one blog on WordPress.COM, but they all have to comply with the TOS.
