Very View of My Site Posts are Showing Up in Reader
-
So I’ve noticed a drastic change in my views so been tracking the issue. I’ve noticed once I publish my posts very view of them are showing up in the related categories feed. I’m very shocked as to why this is happening. And someone really needs to look into this. I’m getting ready to upgrade my site, but, now hesitant since very few are posts are showing up.. Thanks so much. Robin

Hi there,
I’m not sure I’ve understood your issue so I am hoping you can clarify, possibly by sharing an example. I have seen the stats for your site (traffic has really ramped up in the last few days!) but I’m unsure where you are seeing “related category feeds” exactly. Is this something you are seeing on a specific stats page? If so can you share a link to that page so we can take a closer look?
I’m getting ready to upgrade my site, but, now hesitant since very few are posts are showing up.
To be sure I’ve understood, you are referring to posts showing up in your stats? I did check your site and I do see that posts are displayed there correctly. You mean to say you are getting traffic views to your category pages such as this, but not to the individual blog posts themselves? https://jesustherighteouspath.com/tag/christians/
Thanks for the additional info!

Hi and thank you for responding. From the Reader section. Previously when I posted my blog posts and tagged them with tags such as Christians, Religion, Writing and such my post would immediately show up in those fields. But now it takes days before they appear in them and sometimes I can’t find them at all. But recently I used blaze to advertise one of my post so thats the reason my stats recently changed.
I did decide to upgrade because felt it was better for me. But thank you again for your assistance.
God bless you, Robin

Thanks for clarifying. In looking closer at your site I did notice that you appear to use quite a few tags on your posts. One thing to be aware of is that if your post has more than 15 tags and categories (combined) it is not shown in Reader tag searches. This is an anti-spam measure since it is a common tactic of spammers to load their content with a large number of unrelated categories. More info here: https://wordpress.com/support/posts/tags/#tagging-tips
Of course you are not trying to spam, but you can get your posts hidden inadvertently if you have more than 15 tags and categories. For example your recent post Tell My People Dream has two (2) categories and fourteen (14) tags. This total (16) is over the limit so this post may not show up in tag searches such as the ones you are making for “Christians” or other tags the post may be filed under.
It’s not the case that every post is over the 15 category/tag limit, so you’re mostly good, but it’s something to be aware of because you have a few that are over the limit.
Also, when viewing tags in the Reader, you may want to check and see if you are looking at the feed in date order. For example, by default you will see feeds sorted by relevance, as shown here:

Also it may help to understand how we recommend content in the Reader since it is such a strong focus of how you publish on your site. You can find more info here:
The WordPress.com Reader and some of our emails recommend posts and websites based on a number of different algorithms. This guide explains more about how these algorithms work to recommend content. Why Use Algorithms We have two goals with the algorithms that we use: Help people find websites they want to subscribe and keep up to date with. Help website builders and owners to findHope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.

Oh, I didn’t realize it uses the tags and categories. Thank you so much for the clarification. I’ll definitely keep it under 15 for the combination. I appreciate all your help and thank you so much…Robin

So I published another post this morning at 6:30 this morning and ensured I only had a total of 15 Tags and Categories and still my post are not showing up in the designated category reader. I don’t know why this is happening, but, I am a Christian sight so my posts should show up in certain areas. Plus I ensure I used those tags in my post. So can you please tell me why this is happening? Thank you so much…Robin

Sorry, it was 14 tags and categories. But my post still isn’t be showing up in the category reader except in my recent. Thank you so much for your help…Robin

What is is the category you searched for? Did you search several? Do you recall if you switched the view to show by “date” as shown in my screenshot above? How long after publishing did you check?
Also, regarding your tags themselves, are you using the same tags (more or less) across all your posts? For example, your ten most recent posts all use the tag “Christian” in them. Sometimes reusing your tags too frequentlycan easily be confused with activity we see on sites that are trying to spam their content. We note this here: https://wordpress.com/support/reader/topics/#my-content-is-not-appearing-in-reader
Thanks for the additional info!

I do use the tags Christian, Religion, Church, encouragement, Christ, Jesus, God quite frequently but often they are within my post. I can understand spamming, but, since I’m a Christian site these are the areas I need my post to go into.
Thank you so much for your help, God bless you.

Recently I published a post in new categories and still none of my post are showing up. But this makes no sense that you can’t use repetitive tags such as Christian, religion, Church, God, Jesus, faith, when what I speak about pertains to these areas. The reader is a place where post are categorized into those specific areas so people can easily find them. It’s only spam when it’s in areas that has nothing to do with the post and someone complains. It seems more like censorship instead of spam to me. And if it’s not then maybe stop relying on AI and please manually fix this issue.

I’ve asked our team to reset the reader connection to your site, so it may begin to show up in tag searches again. We have not spotted a specific technical error, but as I have mentioned some of your posting behaviours can easily be misconstrued as spam, so I recommend being a bit more judicious in your tags and categories. Hope that helps. Please let us know if you have any more questions.
