VERY WEIRD GLITCH. WP auto-creating duplicate page when ‘edit post’ is clicked.
-
This is an odd one.
When I click ‘edit post’ for anything – post or page – WP takes me to the editor but it automatically changes the hyperlink … keeping the original title but adding ‘-2’ at the end.
eg. if it’s test.com/lemonsbananas and I click edit post, it takes me to an editor and the hyperlink is now test.com/lemonsbananas-2. A duplicate page has been created and launched online. It also changes the author from being my company to my personal WP user account.
I didn’t have any issues previously but I began to notice this after we installed Yoast Premium (needless to say, we’ve now unsubscribed and deactivated the Premium).
Please help! No idea why this is happening and can’t find anything about it online.

hi,
Your website does not look like it is hosted on WordPress.com.
We’re able to help only with websites hosted on WordPress.com.To clear up any confusion, there are 2 versions of WordPress. WordPress.com is a managed environment different from using the open source WordPress installation. WordPress.com and WordPress.org are two, different entities.
You might check in with your host to see if there’s an error log you could look at for more information. Or, you could look in this forum; perhaps someone there has experienced something similar:
https://wordpress.org/support/You’ll need a free WordPress.org account to post – if you don’t already have one, you can register here:
https://wordpress.org/support/register.phpYour hosting provider customer support may also be able to help you.
Hope this helps
