Viator Widget not working on our website with embed code

    Hi,

We got this embed code from Viator’s Widget affiliate tool, but it is not working live on our website:

    <div data-vi-partner-id=P00038518 data-vi-language=en data-vi-currency=USD data-vi-partner-type="AFFILIATE" data-vi-url="https://www.viator.com/tours/Las-Vegas/Deluxe-Las-Vegas-Helicopter-Night-Flight-with-VIP-Transportation/d684-5516ST5" data-vi-total-products=3 data-vi-widget-ref=W-ce236a5e-90e8-48b1-b718-f65ecf6eaad9 ></div>
    https://www.viator.com/orion/partner/widget.js

It should show the widget, but it is not showing up in the live article.

    Thank you.

  • Hi there,

Apologies, but we can’t help with your issue directly because we don’t host your site on our WordPress.com managed hosting.

To explain, we are a fully managed hosting provider and use a custom server environment that is optimized for WordPress, provides built-in security and performance improvements, as well as in-house support for your site questions.

Because of the way we’ve optimized our service, we also use a customized version of WordPress that is different (under the hood) from what you use at your current provider. As a result, we do not have access to your site and are not familiar with the source of your issue.

You definitely have the option to move your site to us so we can provide in-house help, using our migration plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpcom-migration/ and the site would need to be on the business plan.

As it stands now, we cannot help since it is hosted elsewhere. The good news is that help is available here at the open-source WordPress forums: https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting

The folks in that forum are more familiar with these kinds of issues and are in the best position to help. Thanks!

Thank you for your answer. But I believe we are a WordPress site. I publish articles using the WordPress dashboard.

Can you help us about our issue? Thank you.

  • Hi there,

Unfortunately, we cannot assist because photoguides.org is not on WordPress.com but is a self-hosted WordPress.org and appears to be hosted with Go Daddy. Both the WordPress.com and WordPress.org dashboard look similar, but your site isn’t hosted with us.

    To clarify:

    • WordPress.com is a managed host platform that offers WordPress in a pre-customized server environment already set up for you to build your site. Hosting with WordPress.com is free, and the server, security, updates, and site optimization are all handled by us. We offer free and paid plans that provide additional features for your site based on your needs (plugins, custom themes, etc). You also have access to professional assistance via Happiness Engineers to address any issues you encounter.
    • WordPress.org is a self-hosted platform, meaning you download the WordPress software and install it on a web server from a host of your choosing (Go Daddy, Bluehost, Hostgator, etc.). You have to pay the host when you’re self-hosting, and the server, security, updates, and site optimization are all handled by you. This gives you more flexibility and control of your plugins, themes, and code, but also more responsibility to ensure those things are operating correctly.

Our support page dives more into the differences:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/

We welcome you to consider moving your site to WordPress.com, as we’d love to further help you. However, since you’re on a self-hosted platform, we do not have direct access to your account and therefore can’t directly address your issue.

I recommend contacting Go Daddy, as they would be better positioned to assist you since they have access to your account. Also, the open-source forum community is always available and prepared to help users with self-hosted sites:

    https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/

    Hope this helps.
