i am new to this and don’t understand it at all. i am told to take a video on my iPhone for my class and then upload it from my phone to my computer to my blog and i do not understand how to. i have looked up videos and nothing helps because my page looks completely different from anyone else online.

Regardless, that doesn’t change how you upload and display videos to your site here.
In order to upload video directly to your WordPress.com site, you would need to purchase the Premium bundle upgrade. https://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/ which includes the VideoPress upgrade.
The free option is to upload your video to a service mentioned here https://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/ and then follow the linked instructions for the specific service to add the uploaded video to your post.
