    Hi @loveslegato,

    I don’t see a video on this page. Could you please verify which page/video you want to resize? Thansk!

    Hello,

    I ended up reading your blog post, nicely written. Cheers!
    I could not find a video on the blog post, but if you are looking forward to adding one, here is what you can do…

    Video Customization Options

    You can specify the width and height of the embedded video by adding &w=... or &w=...&h=... to the shortcode. It will automatically adapt to your theme’s content length and give you preferred dimensions.

    You can disable related videos by appending &rel=0.

    For example, this shortcode:

    [youtube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Oh12ROTQCE&w=640&h=385 ]

    produces a video, which is wider than the default embed without custom width and height settings.

    Hope this helps,
    In case you need more assistance with this, feel free to post a reply here.

    Hi @joyinco and @patilswapnilv2:

    thanks for the response and @patilswapnilv2 thanks for reading :)

    I took down the video because it was taking up way to much space length wise but its back up now.

    I tried placing an html tag

    <video width=”320″ height=”240″ controls>
    <source src=”https://videos.files.wordpress.com/0mQtkUFI/img_3025_fmt1.ogv” type=”video/ogg”>
    </video>

    to customize the video size but once I hit publish the tag disappears and nothing happened.

    The video is back up on the page for a look..

    Thanks

    p.s. This pretty much happens with any video I try posting. Not just this particular case. It is fine width size but length size it seems to extend forever.

    thanks

    Hi there,

    When you insert your video from the media library, you should end up seeing a shortcode in your Visual Editor. It should look something like

    [wpvideo OcobLTqc]

    The player should automatically appear at the best size for your content column. If it does not, or if you want to change it, you can change the height and width settings by adding attributes to the shortcode, as @patilswapnilv2 mentioned above.

    `[wpvideo OcobLTqc h=500]‘

    Here’s the documentation that describes how the shortcode works, and which attributes it can take: https://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/#frequently-asked-questions

    Please let us know if this helps!

    After taking another look, I’m wondering if the aspect ratio (that is, the proportion of the height to the width) was set by the recording equipment. If that’s the case, changing the height might result in a shorter but less wide video, or a shorter video that appears squashed.

    If you look at the video on your computer (not on your website, but in a video player), does it also appear as a tall rectangle, or it is shaped like a regular video?

    Hi @loveslegato,

    Just wanted to add to @jesscga’s info. She is referring to using the VideoPress feature to embed your video. This is the best way to go as the html <video> resizing tags will be stripped out as you have seen. Info on adding a video using VideoPress is here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/

    Hi @jesscga

    Thanks for the link. I believe the video was recorded on a cell phone.

    The code did fix the height issue but It did squish the video inwards.

    The bar extends beyond video screen though.

    thanks.

    Hi @loveslegato,

    You should be able to adjust the player bar by changing the width setting. If you don’t specify a width setting, it will automatically span the width of the video.

    Let me know if that works for you!
