  I selected free “gateway” because it said I could add a video. When I tried to add video the message was…upgrade to Premium. Please explain how I can add videos. I want to see if this website will work for me. Thanks!

  Can you confirm where you saw the message that you can add videos on the free WordPress.com site?

  The WordPress.com pricing page https://wordpress.com/pricing/ can confirm that videos can be uploaded only to WordPress.com sites on the WordPress.com Premium plan or the WordPress.com Business plan. This happens with a feature called VideoPress and you can learn more about it here. https://en.support.wordpress.com/videopress/

  If you wish to upgrade your site to a WordPress.com Premium plan or WordPress.com Business plan, you can do so here https://wordpress.com/plans/my-plan Visit this link, choose your WordPress.com site and upgrade to either of the suggested plans.

  When I went through all the FREE websites there were just 2 sites that had video access. Gateway and one other. Thanks for assistance.

  I believe you can only upload one video to the homepage on the Gateway theme following the instructions here https://wordpress.com/theme/gateway. To upload multiple videos to a WordPress.com site you’d need to upgrade to a Premium or Business plan. You can of course embed any number of videos linked from YouTube etc to any free WordPress.com site using any theme.

  Note that VideoPress is about uploading videos to your WordPress.com site and hosting there. Only that (VideoPress) would require one to have a WordPress.com Premium plan or WordPress.com Business plan.

  You can use third-party video hosting sites though, like YouTube, Vimeo, Instagram and embed them on your WordPress.com sites. You can learn about doing this here. https://en.support.wordpress.com/videos/

  nwatchpioneer, again, if you have to upload the video to your WordPress.com media library, you would need VideoPress, which in-turn needs WordPress.com Premium plan or WordPress.com Business plan. Alternatively, you can upload the video to YouTube or Vimeo, and add that link to your Gateway theme, as explained on the theme page. https://wordpress.com/theme/gateway
