video access on wordpress.com business plan

  Hi,
  I am looking for a way to sell video access on wordpress.com (users would pay a flat fee to access some video content hosted on video press) ?

  would a wordpress.com business account allow me to do that ?

  Hi there. The Business plan includes the VideoPress upgrade which allows you to upload videos to your media library and embed them in your posts, but there’s no way to control access to specific posts and pages to only users who have paid for access.

  At best you’ll be able to “sell” them the password and link to a password-protected post containing the video or a direct link to the video file itself in the media library (and you can do this on a free blog with a contact form and PayPal button, except that you need at least Premium to upload videos), but nothing will prevent them from sharing either the password or the direct link with other people who haven’t paid.

  For this type of functionality you’ll probably be better served with a self-hosted WordPress.org site where you can install the plugins needed for this type of access control.
