it looks pretty tacky.

I’m having the same problem and it all started today. I’ve gone in and changed the width manually on a few but there are way too many for that. I’ve set the settings for embedd to where I want it and saved and that no longer makes a change.
What’s going on? -
Sorry about that. http://gigready.wordpress.com/
I might add it doesn’t seem to matter which browser I use and I’ve tried other templates and the problem remains.
Thanks

every single video I have ever added in a post were from the WordPress site where you have the option to embed a video.
and again, I haven’t messed with my CSS in months.

@roachii, all the videos I see on your site are youtube, which is not part of wordpress.
I can tell you what to do to fix them, but really you need to contact staff. If you have not messed with anything then it is a problem on the backend that staff will have to fix.
It could also be that youtube changed something. It would not be the first time that has happened and broke things here.

I’m sorry, but this doesn’t convey any information to me. Did you do [ youtube=URL ] or did you use the code with the pointy brackets that says Embed in it? How, exactly, did you put the videos in the posts? What does the code look like?
-
@raincoaster i didn’t even know there were multiple ways of putting a video in your post.
ex. [youtube=http://heresthevideo]
@thesacredpath I will contact staff, but in the meantime how can i fix this? what do i need to add to my CSS sheet?
thanks again

CSS isn’t going to fix this. YouTube obviously changed something on their end, and either they’ll have to change it back or staff here will have to tweak the shortcode (like you’re using and I’m using) to make it work so the videos don’t bust through our templates.

Follow the instructions on this page to change the size of the videos:
-
OK, if you open the post with the video and switch to the HTML tab, right at the end of the URL for the video in the shortcode, put this.
&w=400So that it looks like this (generally)
[youtube=VIDEO URL HERE&w=400]The above will reduce the size proportionally. You could go a touch wider, but this will be a safe number.
